Opting Out of Agency Workers Regulations (AWR)
UK Contractors now have the option of opting out of agency workers regulations. This would mean that they would not be able to go directly to their client for a fee to the agency after the end of their current contract.

Contractors who do not opt can just tell the agency that they are going go directly to the client at the enf of the current contract.

The contractor or the client company can pay this fee which is equivalent to between 6 and 10 weeks of the agency’s margin for the contract.

It would be in the contractor’s interest to pay the fee himself, or herself, as they would be able to get both their own contractor  rates and the agency’s fee as soon as they go direct to the client.
