Contractor References
Are contractor referencies needed by agencies? Agencies are always asking for them.
One agent told us that only around one in a hundred clients need references from contractors beforehand.
When agencies ask contractors for references what they really want is the name of companies who use contractors and individuals within those companies who hire contractors.
Indeed they have some staff whose full time job it is to ring around contractors asking them for references.
Most contractors say that they have never got a contract through any agent or agency calling them to see when they are available and asking for references.
It’s just an agency dirty trick.
